Last week, I began recording a podcast with faculty members. This week I am pleased to share this podcast with Dr. Annette Ryerson who is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Carroll College. (Link to podcast)

In lieu of what has happened in the past few weeks, it seems insignificant to talk about my achievements. So before I begin, I would like to send prayers to all those impacted by these unprecedented times. We must remember that God will make us stronger in our times of trial.

I was in fourth grade when I decided on what I would do when I grew up. After spending a day at work with my father, a business and marketing professor at Saint Leo College, I knew that I wanted to teach. My dad loved his students and his students loved him!

My dream of teaching college only became stronger as I pursued my own higher education. I first received my BA in Economics from Rutgers University, and soon after completed my MBA at the College of William and Mary. At that point I took a break from educational pursuits, spending ten years working in Manhattan and Central New Jersey as a sales representative for Merck Pharmaceuticals.

With the ultimate support of my husband, I was able to attain my Doctorate of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University while also working a job and caring for our three boys. After receiving my doctorate, I was finally able to start my journey as a college professor. I spent my first six years at Black Hills State University, where I taught marketing, developed a corporate communications major, conducted tourism research, and served as faculty advisor for the student marketing organization.

Nine years ago I started my career at Carroll College. During my time at Carroll, I have served as a professor of marketing, business, and entrepreneurship courses. I have also been blessed to work as the internship coordinator for marketing and management internships, advise the Carroll Enactus student organization, and founded the Entrepreneurship Certificate and ZinnStarter program (with my esteemed colleague, Associate Professor Julia Mull).

My time at Carroll has been a true gift. I have had the opportunity to work alongside talented colleagues and great people of faith. Every semester I get to teach gifted and thoughtful students, who I am sure will go on to make a positive impact on all those they touch. Although these times will challenge us, I am confident that Carroll College will remain a beacon of hope in our community.
