Welcome to The Communication Center
Support for communicating in the contemporary world. Becoming a skilled communicator does not just happen. And it’s not something that you’re “just born with” or not. Do you wish you could be more productive and more comfortable (or less uncomfortable) when you give a public presentation? Do you want to use the best tools out there for your multimedia presentation? Well, that’s where we come in.
When it comes to public communication -- as to most things -- you get out precisely what you put in. It turns out that focused, intentional rehearsal makes you better, that is, more productive and more comfortable. Who wouldn’t want that?
You can rehearse, record, and get feedback on that presentation you have coming up. Just do this:
- Go into the Communication Lab in the Simperman Learning Commons (Lower Library 122); press the “record” button on the wall to begin recording; give your presentation; press the “record” button again to stop recording. Instructions and camera angles of the self-serve button cameras are available here. To get this changed, contact Dr. Alan Hansen (see below).
- Email Dr. Alan Hansen, Communication Center Director (email@example.com) and let him know approximately when you used the lab, and we will get the video back to you right away.
- Set up an appointment with Dr. Hansen at the link provided here, for feedback on your presentation. Appointments are usually via Zoom (information provided on the appointment page) but can also be in person.
