Trinity Hall
Participants will need lodging for the Helena portion of the seminar, July 11-25 and July 29.
On-campus accommodations are available in Trinity Hall, which has suites with four private bedrooms, a shared kitchen, and a shared bath. Trinity Hall has coin-operated laundry facilities. Rooms in Trinity Hall are $35 per night, with a one-time $13 linen fee.
Wi-fi will be freely available on campus. Carroll's library will be undergoing a remodel in Summer 2022. Library access may be limited.
There are grocery stores, restaurants, and other amenities within walking distance of Carroll College. Scholars can tend to all necessities without a car. Though not comprehensive, this Google Map identifies recommended amenities in Helena. On-campus parking will be available for those who rent or bring cars.
During our time at Yellowstone National Park (July 25-29), we will lodge at the Yellowstone Studies Center (YSC). Located in the town of West Yellowstone, MT, the YSC is within walking distance of a grocery store, restaurants, and other basic amenities. The YSC offers spacious common areas, shared shower and bathroom facilities, a kitchen, and classroom space. Bedding at the YSC is on the rustic side: cots with sleeping bags in common rooms (one for men and one for women). Participants should be prepared for modest lodging.
The YSC offers an unbeatable combination of location, affordability, and educational resources for our journey to Yellowstone National Park. Lodging at YSC is reserved in advance, so all participants are required to lodge at this facility. Lodging is $28 per night.
Travel
Helena Regional Airport(HLN) is located 10 minutes from Carroll College. Rides can be arranged for scholars arriving at HLN. Other regional airports such as Bozeman (BZN), Great Falls (GTF), and Missoula (MSO) are within a 1-2 hour drive of Helena and often offer more competitive prices and itineraries. Scholars arriving at these airports will need to rent a car to get to Helena.
Weather Conditions
Summer conditions in Montana are generally hot and dry during the day, with mild evenings. Average high temperatures during July in Helena are 83° F with lows of 52° F.
Temperatures in Yellowstone are generally cooler, with July highs averaging 78° and lows averaging 41°. Be sure to review weather conditions at both locations prior to your arrival.
