Dr. Bryan Roth Honored with Alumni Academic Achievement Award

Carroll College is proud to recognize Dr. Bryan L. Roth ’77, as the recipient of the Alumni Academic Achievement Award, presented at a special reception ahead of his keynote lecture for the Student Research Festival yesterday evening, titled, "The Promises and Perils of Psychedelic Pharmacology for Psychiatry."

This prestigious award honors alumni who exemplify Carroll’s commitment to lifelong learning and academic excellence through remarkable scholarly achievement and intellectual leadership.

Dr. Roth is the Michael Hooker Distinguished Professor of Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. A leading figure in neuropharmacology, he has authored over 500 publications and is widely known for pioneering the DREADD chemogenetic technology and groundbreaking research into the molecular structure of psychiatric drugs. His work has garnered nearly 100,000 citations and international acclaim, including election to the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and an invited lecture to the Nobel Forum, from the Nobel Prize Foundation, in 2024.
