Important Announcement Regarding Carroll College's Campus Ministry

Fr. Marc Lenneman

Dear Carroll Community,

I am writing to share with you some important changes in Campus Ministry. As many of you may have learned last night following Mass, our beloved campus chaplain, Fr. Marc Lenneman, has been appointed by Bishop Vetter to be the Pastor/Rector of the Cathedral of St. Helena, effective July 1. Fr. Marc will be fulfilling a role currently held by Monsignor Kevin O’Neill ’73 and upon his appointment, Monsignor O’Neill will become Pastor/Rector Emeritus of the Cathedral. We are certainly sad to see Fr. Marc move on from Carroll, but we are glad he won’t be far and also excited for him and his new role with the Diocese of Helena.

Fr. Marc has been a member of our community for 16 years and has made an immeasurable impact on the lives of so many students, faculty, and staff. He has been instrumental in transforming the vocations program and building a vibrant community of faithful Mass attendees that is the envy of many Catholic colleges. He has been a mentor, a friend, and a spiritual guide to countless individuals. His presence on our campus will be deeply missed.

Fr. Marc's involvement with our Campus Ministry has been extensive. In addition to his role as Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry, he has been a regular presence at many Carroll events and has been a tireless advocate for our Catholic faith. He has been particularly close to our men's basketball team, and his support and encouragement have been a source of inspiration to many of our student-athletes.

Fr. Marc has been deeply involved in the lives of our students. He has been a source of guidance and support for those struggling with personal or spiritual issues, and has been a constant presence on campus, always available to lend an ear or offer advice. His warmth, humor, and kindness have endeared him to all who know him, and we will miss him greatly.

This past weekend, one of our alumni members from 15 years ago spoke to me about the impact Fr. Marc has had on Carroll over the last 16 years, noting he brought the students together in a way that we had not experienced prior to his arrival. This began with overflowing Masses in the Campus Center followed by the construction of All Saints Chapel, which is perhaps one of Fr. Marc’s greatest and lasting contributions to the college as he played an integral part in its design and construction. Fr. Marc’s commitment to our mission and role as a Catholic diocesan college has served us well and helped contribute to the success of our campus. Additionally, he has played a pivotal role in mentoring a number of students who have chosen to pursue seminary studies over the years.

As we wish Fr. Marc well, we are pleased to announce that Fr. Tyler Frohlich will be taking over as our new Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry on July 1. Fr. Tyler, who is a Carroll College graduate of the class of 2012, is already a Carroll Saint and knows the campus well.  While here, he majored in history and minored in theology. Additionally, he was active in Campus Ministry and worked as a camp counselor at Legendary Lodge. Following graduation, he spent a year as a Campus Ministry intern with Fr. Marc, Katie Murray, and Dan Thies. Upon his acceptance as a seminarian for the Diocese of Helena, he was sent to St. John Vianney Theological Seminary for his seminarian studies. Fr. Tyler was ordained by Bishop Vetter in the Cathedral of St. Helena on June 24, 2022. His first, and most recent, assignment has been as the Parochial Vicar at Christ the King Parish in Missoula.

We are confident that Fr. Tyler will be a wonderful addition to our community and will continue the excellent work that Fr. Marc has done over the years. We look forward to welcoming him to our campus and to working with him in supporting our faith community.

In closing, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Marc for his many years of service and dedication to our community. He has left an indelible mark on our campus and will always be a beloved member of the Carroll family. Throughout his time at Carroll, Fr Marc continuously prayed for the college. As he prepares to begin this next step in his journey, may we continue his prayers for Carroll and also pray for him and for all those discerning their vocations as fervently as he has done for us. Please join me in wishing him all the best as he embarks on this new chapter of his life.

Sincerely,

John E. Cech, Ph.D.
President, Carroll College
