The Ellen Livers Graduate Scholarship for Behavioral Health is a one-time, annual scholarship of $2,500 awarded by the Montana Hospital Association and Montana Health Research and Education Foundation. Students enrolled in graduate programs for mental and behavioral health at a Montana college or university are eligible to apply.
The scholarship is named for the late Ellen Livers, a lifelong champion for the health of Montana residents with a career that spanned nearly forty years in healthcare administration. Ellen served as the Director of Government Relations at Shodair Children’s Hospital in Helena. She was a tireless advocate for youth mental health and lobbied passionately for mental health issues up to her passing in 2020. Ellen also was deeply committed to the work of several civic groups, and served on the Board of Directors for the Montana Health Research and Education Foundation. She was instrumental in securing expanded access and better options for mental and behavioral healthcare in Montana.
Requirements
An essay of no more than four pages detailing their plans for graduate work and the work they hope to do in providing behavioral healthcare in Montana.
Essays should include a description of the graduate program to which the student has been admitted; brief account of undergraduate focus and study (or recent professional experience in healthcare) and an explanation of the student’s interest in behavioral health. The successful applicant will also detail plans for applying for behavioral health roles in Montana.
Applicants are required to provide an unofficial transcript to verify status of their enrollment.
