Kaitlyn Wenzel, a senior with a double major in Communication Studies and Catholic Studies, completed her off-campus internship with Senator Daines' Office in Washington, D.C., during the summer of 2023. She was drawn to this particular internship with the Senator due to her passion for politics and longstanding desire to work on Capitol Hill. Kaitlyn’s internship experience led to an invitation to return to Capitol Hill for a full-time position, where she hopes to move after graduating in May.
Kaitlyn engaged in various tasks during her internship, including supporting the press and legislative policy teams, attending events, sitting directly behind the Senator at a hearing, and authoring an official Congressional letter for the U.S. Forest Service on behalf of Montana's Congressional Delegation. Her writing, research, and communication skills from Carroll were key to her success.
“I would very much recommend all students find an internship in their chosen field and dive in head first. I would very much recommend internships on Capitol Hill for any students interested in politics, public policy, or simply wanting to know how our government works. Every day is different and exciting, and I would do it 1000x over!”
