NEW PATHWAY TO NURSING DEGREE
Addressing the growing needs of the healthcare workforce, Carroll is adding a new Accelerated Nursing Program. The program is designed for students who have earned a bachelor’s degree (in any field) and want to complete additional coursework required to become a licensed Registered Nurse. Accelerated Nursing students will graduate in 15 months with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Carroll College.
 
Building on Carroll College’s long legacy of excellence in nursing, the 15-month intensive program based in Helena includes coursework and clinical experiences designed to make graduates well prepared and immediately employable in one of the fastest growing career fields in the country.
 
Carroll is currently accepting applications for admission into the Accelerated Nursing program to begin May 2020. Applications are due March 20, 2020. The planned completion date for the first cohort of twenty accelerated nursing graduates is August 2021. Bill Simons ’78, OD, Carroll alumnus and longtime Helena optometrist, was recently honored with the Helena Chamber of Commerce’s Business Person of the Year award at the Chamber’s annual awards luncheon held earlier in January. Read the article in the Helena IR here.

HONORS & ACCOLADES
John Matthews, class of 1961, was recently awarded the State of Wisconsin 2019-2020 Hometown Hero Award “in recognition of the incredible accomplishments he achieved for the teachers of Wisconsin.” Matthews was the Executive Director of the Madison teacher’s union for 48 years and through his work “he ended discriminatory practices that denied women equal pay, defended the rights of religious minorities, and most impressively, established groundbreaking protections for pregnant women, setting the standard for working women in every profession, across the entire state.”
