Heather Magera - A Summer Abroad

Back in May, we highlighted Heather Magera’s upcoming summer travels to the UK to participate in Carroll’s partnership with the Exeter College Summer Programme (ECSP) at the University of Oxford. Since 2019, Carroll students have been able to join this prestigious six-week program, reserved for select institutions, immersing them in Oxford's academic traditions and rigorous, interactive coursework.

“The Exeter College Summer Programme was a truly life changing experience. I was able to learn from some of the greatest minds in a unique teaching style surrounded by students who are committed and determined just like me. I got to see places I would have otherwise not been able to and meet many new people forming lifelong friendships. This wonderful opportunity met and exceeded my expectations.”

More information about this program can be found by reaching out to Carroll College Director of Global Education, Shannon Ackeret, at sackeret@carroll.edu. As a reminder, students can also apply for the Artaza Student Scholarship, which provides funding for study abroad experiences such as this.

“To anyone considering this opportunity I would strongly recommend doing it because of its unique academic and cultural experience. You’ll have the chance to learn from Oxford professors and explore subjects in depth while surrounded by rich history and architecture. The program also emphasizes global education, encouraging you to develop adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and critical thinking,” shared Heather.
