Carroll College is pleased to announce the winner of one of Montana’s Athletes in Service Award which honors student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional service to their communities. These awards were presented by the presidents of each of Montana’s universities on a Zoom meeting this week. We typically announce the winners on the field at the "Brawl of the Wild" Cat/Griz football game but were not able to do that this year due to the pandemic.
Carroll College’s winner this year is Maddie Geritz from the women’s basketball team. Maddie, a junior majoring in education with an emphasis in special education, provides one-on-one special needs assistance and volunteers with the Special Olympics basketball team, the Walk to End Alzheimer's, Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake and Chili Cookoff, National Walk to School Day, Dr. Seuss Read to Achieve, and the Humane Society. She also holds public speaking engagements about being a Champion of Character. Maddie is a member of the Fighting Saints Student Athletic Advisory Council and gives back to the people that have given to her, and finds a way to help the less fortunate. Maddie's infectious personality brightens every room she walks into, and a brief five minutes with her can turn anybody's day around. When she puts her mind to community service, she brings an unbeatable combination of passion and determination.
Carroll College’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Rachelle Sayers said this about Maddie, “I am so proud of Maddie as she is unwavering in her willingness to serve her community and make everyone around her feel important and appreciated.”
Congratulations, Maddie!
