Merry Christmas from Carroll College

We wish you and your families joy, health and peace this Christmas and throughout the coming year.

We hope you enjoy this year’s light-hearted video Christmas card. Clement Moore's beloved Christmas poem, "A Visit from St. Nicholas," comes to life through the good-natured participation of our students, faculty, and staff in wishing you and your families a very blessed and joyful Christmas season.

For further fun, be sure to view this “bloopers” reel.

Most Carroll offices will be closed for the holidays December 24, 2013 through January 1, 2014. For those interested in making year-end gifts, the Office for Institutional Advancement will be open December 26, 27 & 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  For assistance, call Dan Minor at 447-5528, Candie Cain at 447-4388, or Tom McCarvel at 447-4409.

Skull Treeby Richard Buswell

Dr. Richard Buswell's ’66 latest collection of photography “Close to Home” was published this past May by the University of New Mexico Press.  This is his fourth book.  His black- and-white photographs frame cast-off, common things to reveal abstract patterns in the tradition of twentieth century modernist photography.  As Buswell puts it, his work is “more interpretive and abstract than it is documentary. The images explore the junction where decaying artifacts become visual echoes of the past.”

Buswell's photographs have been shown in 39 solo museum exhibitions and 230 group shows. His photos are in more than 200 permanent museum collections.

Shannon Puckett ‘07, daughter of Jon ‘84 and Mary Kay (Burgess) ‘85, and granddaughter of Henry Burgess ‘51, graduated with a PharmD degree from the University of Montana School of Pharmacy in May 2012 and just completed her post graduate year-1 (PGY-1) pharmacy residency training with University of Washington and Providence Health & Services with an emphasis on ambulatory care.  In August, she accepted a position at the Billings Clinic as a Clinical Pharmacist II on the Transitions of Care Team.

Emily Renee Slayton ‘11 of Gresham, Ore., and Brian Ross Gemar of Conrad, Mont. were married Saturday, Aug. 10, on Spike Africa Schooner, an 80-foot sailboat, near Orcas Island, Wash.  Emily graduated with degrees in health sciences and Spanish. She is a laboratory assistant at St. Peter’s Hospital while attending school to be a clinical laboratory specialist.

Drew Beckert ‘12 and Stephanie Reinig ‘06 are proud to announce their engagement and upcoming wedding in January 2014 in Helena.  Drew is a registered nurse with the VA hospital. Stephanie is a professional engineer with Great West Engineering.
