Considering a career as a teacher?

Teacher Career Graphic

Thinking about becoming a K-12 classroom teacher? Or maybe, you're a student who is interested in determining if a teaching career is a good fit for you?

This summer the teacher education department is offering several courses that will give you a good start or help you "catch up" in your pursuit of a Montana Teaching License.

ED 102, Education Foundations, is a course required of all education majors and is usually taken in the fall of the freshmen year. The course provides a historical, philosophical, and sociological look at education and the work of teachers. The course will be taught online and will require a 20-hour field experience in a K-12 classroom.

SPED 200, Introduction to Exceptional Children will also be taught online this summer. This course, typically taken in Spring of the freshman year, gives students an overview of the characteristics of students with special needs and strategies on how to work with these students in the classroom.

If you have any questions about either of these courses or want to chat about the teacher education program feel free to contact Professor Bob Stansberry at rstansberry@carroll.edu or anyone in the Education Department.
