Carroll Theatre presents student directed One-Act Plays

The Carroll College Theatre Department invites the Helena community to attend the annual One-Act Play Festival directed by four of Carroll’s very own student directors on December 11-12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Old North Performing Arts Center.

The festival plays are “Coffee with God,” “4 A.M.,” “The Door,” “It’s Only a Minute a Guy,” and “The Wager.” Each student director individually chose their play and selected cast members.

Sabrina Harding, a senior theatre major from Southern California, directing “The Door” said, “I am endlessly impressed with my cast. They have allowed me to push them, teach them, and change my mind a dozen times.” “The Door” is the story of a young man who reaches out to save his grandmother and in doing so learns that doors must be opened to know the truth of life.

Director of both “It’s Only a Minute a Guy” and “The Wager” is senior Vivian Cole from Colorado Springs, Colorado studying English and theatre. When asked about her two one-acts she stated, “I am really excited to be working with Ellen Postlewait and David Yake. They are both great actors and I am sure the audience will love ‘It’s Only a Minute a Guy’.”

Alex Chopyak, a mathematics for secondary education major from Longmont, Colorado, is directing “Coffee with God.” He shared, “My show is about a man who is just trying to live life. The story is meant to bring hope to the lives of people that are trying to keep specific details of their life hidden.”

“4 A.M.” is directed by senior finance and business administration major Tevin Stutzman from Pasco, Washington. “I couldn’t have asked for a better cast,” said Stutzman. “‘4 A.M.’ is a reminder that that no matter how alone you might feel, there’s someone out there to connect with.”

The One-Act Play Festival will be performed December 11-12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Carroll College Old North Performing Arts Center. The performances are free and the Helena community is welcome to attend. Come support your local student directors as they chase their dreams on the Carroll stage.
