HELENA – Carroll College student-athlete Tom Robitaille was recently awarded the Montana Athletes in Service Award by the Montana Campus Compact (MTCC). Each year Montana Campus Compact recognizes one student-athlete from each MTCC Affiliate Campus across the state who have dedicated their efforts to serving the community while also pursuing a college degree while participating in a sport. Robitaille was presented with the award during halftime of the November 20th "Brawl of the Wild" Cat – Griz football game by Carroll College President John Cech.
Robitaille, a linebacker for the Fighting Saints football team, is a senior biology and health sciences major from Casper, Wyoming. In addition to being a student-athlete, Robitaille volunteers as a coach with Special Olympics and with a fellow student with developmental disabilities. His past service includes volunteering with Helena Food Share and the Carroll Cares grocery service during the pandemic as well as an organizer with Carroll Blood in 2020. Additionally, between 2018 and 2020, he helped arrange and deliver Thanksgiving meals for families in need, supported Hands on Nashville Tornado relief, Paint the Town Pink, and was a flood relief volunteer in Helena.
Recent Carroll College Athletes in Service Award winners include Maddie Geritz (women’s basketball, 2020), Jenna Starke (volleyball, 2019), and Hannah Dean (women’s basketball, 2018).
