HELENA – Entrepreneurial action is active again on the Carroll College campus. Following a successful year of local partnership projects, Enactus, one of the fastest growing clubs on the Carroll College campus, has once again received multiple grants in order to pursue a variety of projects around Helena. Using the more than $4,000 earned, the group of primarily business students hopes to achieve the mission of the national organization, “using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world,” at a local level The grants received include the AB InBev Better World recycling grant, Uncap Opportunities for Women–Supported by The Coca-Cola Foundation, Walmart Women’s Economic Empowerment, and the Sam's Club Step Up for Small Business.
“I am confident that our team would be able to make a positive impact even without these grants, but getting significant funding from these Enactus partners allows us to make changes of an unimaginable magnitude in the Helena community,” said club president, Justine Songey ‘15. The businesses the students will be using these funds to support include Louie’s Casa Diego, SAVE Recycling, and the Florence Crittenton home, among others. The projects are to be completed with impact reports submitted to the national office by March 19, a month before the 2015 National Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri, where the members of the Carroll team will have an opportunity to present on the projects.
Though the club has secured grants for these projects, students are currently fundraising to generate money for the spring trip. The club will be selling a limited edition, signature print featuring an opening game shot from the 2013 Carroll Homecoming game against Tech, generously donated by Grant Hanson. The print will be on a 24x32 stretch canvas for $200, available beginning in January.
