On Monday, March 23, 2020, Carroll College President John Cech sent the following communication to students, faculty and staff regarding the college’s planning and operations related to COVID-19.
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
With continued warnings from national health officials and increasingly urgent calls for us to fight COVID-19 with all that we have, Carroll College has decided on several further actions to help support the current efforts. We want to ensure that students have predictability with respect to their own educational plans.
First, we have decided that remote learning will continue through the end of the term on May 7. We have also determined that all summer courses will be delivered remotely or online.
Second, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Commencement ceremony and are currently planning to hold our next Commencement on Saturday, December 12. We will do everything in our power to ensure that the class of 2020 has the celebration they deserve and as we look forward to being on the other side of the current crisis, I think of what a joyous occasion it will be.
As Carroll College is home to many students and for some their only option, the campus remains open to campus residents as needed. Students who can and are able to travel home should contact studentlife@carroll.edu to arrange to check out of the residence halls. If students’ plans change, they should email studentlife@carroll.edu. Students who have already left campus will be contacted by Student Life to arrange check out prior to the end of the semester.
We continue to operate dining services and have professional staff on campus for resources such as student health, counseling, and academic support. Employees are being encouraged to work remotely. This week supervisors will be working with staff to identify who can work remotely based on essential duties and work capacity.
