HELENA, MT – Carroll College has successfully completed its largest capital campaign to-date, the MIND BODY SPIRIT Campaign. The college closed the campaign having exceeded its goal of $20 million by raising a total of $20.8 million over the course of the four-year campaign.

"The completion of the MIND BODY SPIRIT Campaign represents a considerable achievement for Carroll. Not only have these gifts provided the resources to construct buildings and enhance programs, they exemplify the faith and commitment our friends, supporters and alumni have for Carroll,” said Candie Cain, Interim Vice President for Advancement. “The willingness of so many to provide transformational support to the college demonstrates that people recognize the impact of what is happening on Carroll’s campus, in our classrooms and across the globe. The influence Carroll graduates have on our communities is evident. And people acknowledge and support that generously. I am humbled by the support for the MIND BODY SPIRIT Campaign that has forever changed the skyline of Carroll and the educational experience of our learning community."

The MIND BODY SPIRIT Campaign was launched in 2014 in order to provide an educational environment that better reflected the way students interact and learn today with state-of-the art facilities that provide opportunities for innovative learning, recreational fellowship and a healthy lifestyle, and sacred and welcoming spaces for students to explore and nurture their spirituality.

The campaign contributed comprehensive support to the college’s strategic priorities as set out in the Campus Master Plan created in 2009. The first project of the campaign to come to fruition was the new recreation and fitness center, the Hunthausen Activity Center, named in honor of Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen. The HAC provides diverse programming to enhance the health and wellness goals of the Carroll community and helps impart a healthy balance to students’ lives through physical activity and recreational fellowship.

Following the HAC, a signature project of the campaign was the completion of All Saints Chapel this past fall, which has transformed spiritual life on campus. The chapel provides a spiritual center for the Carroll community where they can join together in worship and further explore their faith. In addition, it includes space for campus ministry programs, along with areas that promote personal reflection, prayer and spiritual growth.

On the academic side, the campaign has strengthened Carroll’s distinctive and popular Anthrozoology program by securing funding to acquire a Carroll-owned equine facility as well as the construction of the Perkins Call Canine Center. The Center will house Anthrozoology faculty in canine, equine, and wild animal disciplines and provide space for classroom instruction, research, veterinary examinations, canine training, and human-animal bond activities. Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2019.

The final cap on the campaign is a major remodel of the Corette Library to create a state-of-the-art Library Learning Commons. This re-visioning of the library will create an innovative learning center where students can engage with each other, the support staff and find space for individual or group study. The learning commons can be thought of as an addition to the Corette Library, but in its truest sense it is the physical manifestation of a new way of learning that will exist within the library and permeate the college as a whole. Renovations will begin in June 2018.

“The MIND BODY SPIRIT Campaign was personal for me and I am very grateful to the many individuals that provided gifts in order to enhance the Carroll experience on so many levels for our students,” said Tom Walsh, ’81, Chair of the MIND BODY SPIRIT Campaign. “While this capital campaign has come to a close, the progress and growth brought about by its success will continue to move the college forward and open doors to a wealth of opportunity for future Saints.”

To celebrate the close of the campaign and show appreciation to the donors who gave so generously, Carroll College is hosting a private celebration on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. in the Campus Center.
