For close to a year, Abby has been interning with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. She’s a senior double majoring in Computer Science and Data Science, with a minor in Mathematics. Abigail was drawn to the laboratory for its wide range of projects and the continuous opportunities for research, allowing her to explore various career paths.
Currently, she’s working on ultrasonic testing data for nuclear research reactor fuel plate scans, aiming to reconstruct low-quality scans for improved thickness measurement analysis. Given the limited research in signal reconstruction, she’s thrilled to be part of a team tackling this challenge. Abby has presented her research at two conferences: the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Annual Conference and the Reduced Enrichment for Research and Test Reactors (RERTR) International Conference. These experiences have deepened her understanding of machine learning analysis and enhanced her public speaking skills.
