Service Opportunities

Service Saturday - February, 2025

It's time for Service Saturday! On Saturday, February 22, we will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel Foyer and serve around the community until 11:30 am.

We'll have some breakfast items before we take off, and a pizza lunch will be provided in the Chapel Lounge afterward.

This is an excellent opportunity to help support our Helena community and gain some extra volunteer hours. Please note that if you are a group signing up, you need to sign up individually so you can be placed at an organization.

Sign ups coming by Feb 3, 2025.

Brought to you by the Hunthausen Center for Peace and Justice.

Service Saturdays are an opportunity for students to volunteer at several different locations around Helena for 3 hours on a Saturday. It's a great way to engage with the non-profits and organizations that are supporting and sustaining our community. For more information email hunthausencenter@carroll.edu.

We are currently accepting applicants for our 2025-2026 Year of Service (YOS) program! For eleven months, young men and women live in a community with one another and share their love with the poorest of the poor in Denver or Philadelphia. The formation that our missionaries receive through walking the streets and through living a life of prayer and community, extends to all aspects of life.

Beginning October 22nd, we will be accepting applications for our 2026 Summer of Service (SOS) program. Similar to the Year of Service, college students from around the country will be invited to participate in the mission of knowing, loving, and serving the poor in various locations throughout the US for three weeks or two months. We know that college students often choose between advancing their prospective careers or service to the Church. We like to remind students that good formation extends to all dimensions of human life, including the workplace, the dorms, the parties, and the cafeteria. They will learn communication skills to form and sustain friendships; have a preferential option for the poor in any setting; learn healthy boundaries between men and women and much more.

We are the Hunthausen Center for Peace and Justice, or CPJ for short: a student-run office that strives to promote the dignity of the human person through service. Now that you’re settling into your schedules, here are some awesome opportunities to get out and serve in our Helena Community!

End of Year Free Market

The End of Year Free Market was created in 2021 as a campus-wide effort to divert student "trash" away from the dumpster and into new homes. During the 2023-2024 school year, Carroll was able to 10,000 pounds from going to our local land fill.

This event is an opportunity during the last week of school for students to donate their gently used items. After being donated, the students, staff and faculty at Carroll are able to go pick out items they need for free! The final items are then picked up by local non-profit organizations which go out to local Helena community members.

If you are wanting to volunteer to help with this event in May of 2025, please reach out to hunthausencenter@carroll.edu
