About
Tom Whyte ’83, has served as a Carroll trustee since 2022 and is the current Vice Chair of the
Board.
Tom currently serves as the Chief Financial Office for Koelbel and Company based out of Denver, CO. As CFO since 1997, he oversees financial reporting for all Koelbel divisions and negotiates and places all financing facilities in support of company operations. Now entering its eighth decade, Koelbel and Company holds the distinction of being the oldest family-operated real estate development firm in the Denver area. With three generations of leadership, Koelbel has left a lasting impact on Colorado, characterized by its mindful development practices and a commitment to corporate citizenship.
Prior to joining Koelbel, Tom was treasurer for a North American investment firm headquartered in Denver. Earlier, he held various positions in the tax division of the Denver office of Arthur Andersen & Co.
A 1983 graduate of Carroll in accounting and political science, Tom has been active in several other nonprofit groups, foundations and service organizations, primarily in the Denver area. He currently serves as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Rocky Mountain Public Media, and he has also held positions on the Boards of the Brent Eley Foundation and Archdiocese Housing.
My parents lived their lives in service to each other, to the family, and their community. Serving on Carroll College’s board extends their legacy and passion for higher education, social justice and community-based focus. It is an honor to serve with an incredible group of board trustees fully devoted to Carroll’s mission.
