About
Facilities & Grounds - Manager - Grounds
My name is John Juntunen, I was born and raised in Anaconda, MT. I began my career at Carroll College in 2012, and this has been the greatest job I’ve ever had. In 2012, I was initially hired as the Sports Field Technician. From 2014 to 2018, I served as the Grounds Manager, and was later promoted to the Director of Grounds last year. I chose to work at Carroll College, in part, because of my family. Several of my relatives graduated from Carroll and my great uncle, Dr. James Manion, was a beloved and well-respected faculty member. The campus definitely has a family vibe, and that’s just one of the many things I love about it. The main reason I wanted to work at Carroll is because working at a campus like this is a groundskeeper’s dream – it’s simply beautiful.
In the years I have been with the department, I have grown very proud of our commitment to the maintenance, beautification and improvements of all the campus grounds. Our staff, along with student employees, have a strong dedication to providing a safe, clean, aesthetically pleasing setting for learning, living, working, entertainment and worship. I have especially enjoyed the friendships I have made with the student employees over the years.
When I get the opportunity to break away from work, I enjoy hunting, fly-fishing, hiking, camping and backpacking. Over the last 10 years, my father and I have also been on a “bucket list” quest to visit every Major League Baseball stadium in the country. Last but not least, I am the “World’s Greatest Uncle,” and I have the coffee mug to prove it!
