Erik Sorem (Father Deacon Ananias), Ph.D. has a BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College. He earned an MA (Honors) and Ph.D. in Philosophy (Epistemology; Philosophy of Science; Philosophy of Mind) from University College Dublin. After attending St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary, he was ordained to the priesthood in the Eastern Orthodox Church in 2016. He currently serves with Fr. Russell Radiocich at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Butte and Holy Ascension Orthodox Christian Church in Clancy.
Father Deacon is the author of several articles and peer-reviewed papers, including “Searle, Materialism, and the Mind-Body Problem” in Perspectives: International Journal of Philosophy, (Autumn 2010) and “A City of God and a City of Man,” Lumea Credintei, no. 9 (132), October 2018.. His current academic work focuses on philosophical theology, epistemology, and the philosophy of science.
