April Boitano, DNP, CNM, WHNP-BC
April earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing Practice from Frontier University, her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, and Bachelors of Science in Nursing from California State University, Sacramento. Dr. Boitano has worked as a Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse Midwife, and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and held leadership roles with large healthcare organizations including former Chief of Midwifery for Kaiser Permanente. With her 23 years of experience in maternal-child health, she has cared for thousands of families in both the outpatient and inpatient setting and has delivered over 1,400 babies safely into the arms of their parents. She has co-authored projects that focused on improving fetal monitoring skills for providers and nurses, and patient-facing tools on birth preferences, and medication use in labor and postpartum. She has been recognized as an expert preceptor for APRN and DNP students in Montana and California.
Research interests include health disparities related to maternal morbidity, safe staffing standards, and noninvasive techniques in labor to improve vaginal birth rates.
Projects of interest include improving reproductive health in underserved populations and increasing diversity in the field of midwifery.
Outside of work April enjoys biking, hiking, crocheting, painting, and learning to play the ukelele. She loves spending time with her family and pets and is committed to self-improvement and development.
