At the center of it all

Whether you’re ready to take on a 40-foot roped climbing tower or just looking to hang out with friends, the Hunthausen Activity Center—”The HAC”—has you covered.

One of the newest additions to our campus, the center is home to:

  • Recreational and intramural space, including a gymnasium and open court space
  • A state-of-the-art fitness center with weights and cardiovascular equipment
  • Multi-purpose and movement rooms for fitness classes
  • A 40-foot roped climbing tower and 13-foot indoor bouldering cave with routes of varying difficulty
  • Low cost rental store for outdoor activity gear
  • Meeting rooms and lounge
  • Spaces for studying and socializing

Mon-Fri: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and  4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Mon-Fri: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Sat-Sun: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. 

The HAC will be closed Nov 27-30, 2024 for Thanksgiving Break, reopening for normal hours on Sunday, Dec. 1.

  • Dec 13, 16-20 — 11am-1pm and 4-6pm
  • Dec 23, 26, 27, 30, Jan 2, 3  — 4-6 pm only
  • Jan 6-10  —  11am-1pm and 4-6pm
     
  • Closed Dec 24, 25, 31, Jan 1 & all Saturdays and Sundays
  • Open normal hours starting Sunday, January 12th

The HAC will be closed March 9-16, 2024, and open again on Sunday, March 17 for normal hours.

Mon-Thu: 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Mon-Fri: 6:00-8:00 a.m., 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Sat-Sun: Closed

Climbing & bouldering walls

Climbing provides a full-body workout that will challenge you both mentally and physically. Options are available for all fitness levels.

History and mission

The Hunthausen Activity Center was named in honor of Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen—a Carroll student, professor, coach, and president who taught the importance of tending mind, body, and spirit. Its mission is to “provide the Carroll community with diverse programming to engage the mind, body, and spirit and bring joy and balance to our lives.
