Student Leaders

What is A Peer Minister?

Campus Ministry has a group of 14 students who live in the residence halls called Peer Ministers. These peer ministers carry on the tradition of fostering fellowship and goodwill on campus, work in building community on the floors, and help in creating a positive campus atmosphere for students.

Each Peer Minister considers themself a resource to assist and counsel other students when needed. They also lead small groups, but these may not always take the “customary” bible study form.

Grace Steele, a senior majoring in elementary education from Wasougal, Washington, co-led a Bible study in which yarn and the Gospels intertwined.

Some of the girls were interested in doing crafts, so we taught everyone how to knit, and we would talk about the Gospels as we knit. We made quite a few scarves as a result and gave them to a local homeless shelter called 'God’s Love.'

Most importantly, though, these students are available to be a presence encouraging faith on campus. Peer Ministers encourage students to make their relationship with God an important part of their journey at Carroll.

What is the Campus Ministry Leadership Team?

In addition to Peer Ministers, several other student leaders make up the Campus Ministry leadership team. Working in conjunction with the Ministry Staff and FOCUS missionaries, these students foster the faith life on campus in a variety of ways.

Campus Ministry leadership is made up of student leaders in music ministry, prayer ministry, service leadership, hospitality (at mass), and liturgical coordination to head alter server, sacristan, ecumenism leader, and the office administrative assistant.

Grace

My name is Grace Arend, and I am the peer minister for ground floor Guad this year! I am from Flagstaff, Arizona and I am majoring in sociology-criminology. Here are some things I consider to be crucial parts of my personality: coffee houses are a deep passion of mine; I absolutely love to read and partake in really any cozy activity; card games and board games are one of my favorite pastimes; and rainstorms, clouds, or just being outside make me extremely happy. I am so excited to walk with you all in faith this year, and I look forward to meeting all of you!

I love playing spikeball, ultimate frisbee, basketball, catan, and cards. I absolutely enjoy learning and doing so with other people.
