Grand Opening Celebration Twenty-nine months after its ceremonial groundbreaking, the Hunthausen Activity Center held its grand opening celebration on February 24. The celebration served as a thank you to the many Carroll alumni and friends that helped transform the facility from a dream to a reality through their generous donations. The HAC was filled with individuals near and dear to the college and none more so than Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen from whom the building was named. Joining the Archbishop were his brother Fr. Jack Hunthausen, his sister, Sr. Edna Hunthausen, and a large contingent of the extended Hunthausen family. Over 200 people celebrated alongside Archbishop Hunthausen as he cut the ceremonial ribbon with assistance from his nephew, Tom Walsh, Carroll Board of Trustee member and chair of the Mind Body Spirit Campaign. Highlights of the evening included a spirited performance by Carroll’s drum line and pep band, remarks from the Archbishop, and the unveiling of a cheerful, vibrant portrait of Archbishop Hunthausen, generously donated by the artist and Carroll alumna, the very talented Mary Larson ’95. It was a beautiful evening celebrating both Carroll’s past and its future. All of us at Carroll are so very grateful to the many, many individuals who had a hand in making this stunning facility possible for our students and Carroll community. The video below captures some of the special moments from a very special evening. |
