BUSINESS IS BOOMING Carroll's Business Department has a new Finance Major, with all the latest information online, including courses, faculty bios and much more at http://www.carroll.edu/academics/finance/index.cc. Among the new faculty firepower already teaching courses for this new major is Julie Mull (photo right), who holds an M.B.A. from Indiana University at Fort Wayne and brings nearly 20 years of experience in the banking industry. Since 1999, Mull has served 1st Source Bank in Fort Wayne, Ind., as its banking center manager and assistant vice president.   Also new to the Carroll Business Dept. and teaching Finance courses starting this fall are Dr. Annette Ryerson, who comes to Carroll from Black Hills State University, where she has served as an associate professor of marketing since 2005; and Dr. Douglas MacKenzie, whose experience includes teaching as a visiting assistant professor at Ohio Northern University, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and SUNY Plattsburgh. Ryerson earned her Doctor of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and her MBA from the College of William and Mary. MacKenzie holds a doctorate in economics from George Mason University. At Carroll, Ryerson will specialize in marketing, with MacKenzie focused on economics. PRETTY RACEY STUFF! At the recent NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 26-28, Shannon Flynn (leading in photo left), class of 2011, finished out her college athletics career by reaching the finals and ranking eighth in the nation in the 800 meters. She was joined by two Saints freshmen who had automatically qualified for a nationals appearance: Ben Cutler and Rhianna Grossman. Cutler reached the semifinals in both the 400 meters and long jump, ending the year ranked in the NAIA top 12 for both events. Reaching the finals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Grossman placed ninth nationally and was the only freshman in the field of 14 runners in the last race. Coach Matt Morris says this young team, in just its first year at Carroll, performed with strength and grace, and their victories have helped Carroll recruit almost 40 new student runners, who have signed on to next year's track and field roster.
