Carroll’s Track & Field program had a stellar spring season with many honors and accolades bestowed upon a number of team members. Highlights include having a school-record 17 student-athletes earn All-American status at the NAIA Track and Field National Championship held in Gulf Shores, Alabama, in late May. Carroll All-Americans were led by National Champion David Barnett in the javelin as well as Kara Barth and Sandy Torres, who both earned All-American honors in two events. Hannah Porch - long jump - sixth place
Janie Reid – 10K - eighth place
Crystal Schmidt – javelin - fourth place
David Thor - 1,500 meter - sixth place
Sandy Torres - 800 meter - third place; 4x800 relay - fourth place
Monica White - 4x400 relay - seventh place
In addition, four track and field athletes were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District 3 Track and Field and Cross Country team as voted on by Sports Information Directors in the district. Leah Esposito, Sandy Torres, Lyle Pocha and Beaugh Meyer were named to the team.
And as the final icing on the cake, the Carroll College women''s track and field and cross country programs finished third in the first-ever U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NAIA Program of the Year standings.
