HELENA – Carroll College Theatre is producing Emilie: La Marquise Du Châtalet Defends Her Life Tonight by Lauren Gunderson, running February 7– 15. This show is about physicist and genius Emilie du Câtalet and her work (and love affair) with Voltaire. In this play, Emilie will suspend the laws of time and space to appear before us and defend her existence, telling her story from her own perspective

Gunderson retells this remarkable story about Emilie and her legacy in a thrilling fast-paced aesthetic, much like her more recent work on The Book of Will or Silent Sky. The Carroll College Theatre department is proud to bring this important story about love and philosophy to the Helena community. In Gunderson’s own words, “Emilie is a play about legacy, [and] is a dilated moment in time just before Emilie’s death. It is a game of wit, a defiance of mortality, a beautiful battle of brains. Funny, sexy, fiery. Émilie is a real woman, a true story, a myth, and a mystery. This play is hers.” ~ Lauren Gunderson, 2012.
