Carroll College Broadens Accelerated Nursing Program Eligibility, Creating New Pathways for Associate Degree Graduates
HELENA, MT – Carroll College is expanding access to its Accelerated Nursing (ABSN) track, now welcoming applicants who have completed an associate degree (AA or AS) from an accredited college or university. Previously open only to students with a bachelor’s degree, the program’s updated criteria reflect Carroll’s commitment to creating new and more inclusive pathways into the nursing profession.
This change represents more than a policy update. It reflects a thoughtful effort to expand opportunity and acknowledge the diverse educational paths that lead students to nursing. By recognizing the preparation and experience associate degree holders bring, Carroll is creating a clear and efficient pathway to complete a BSN and enter the workforce sooner, while upholding the academic excellence and values that define a Carroll education.
“By expanding eligibility to include applicants who hold associate degrees, Carroll College is opening new doors for capable, motivated students who are ready to advance their education and their impact in healthcare,” said Lauren Swant, DNP, MSN, RNC-NIC, CNE, CPHQ, Associate Professor of Nursing, Director of Nursing, and Department Chair. “This change reflects our mission to provide the means for both vocation and enlightenment—welcoming students who bring diverse experiences and aspirations while upholding the same academic rigor and humanistic values that define a Carroll nurse. It strengthens our program’s reach, meets a critical workforce need, and reaffirms our commitment to preparing compassionate, baccalaureate-prepared nurses to serve Montana and beyond.”
