Inside Carroll’s new podcast studio in the Simperman Learning Commons and Corette Library, students are capturing the voices and stories that make Montana, and Carroll, shine. Big Sky, Small World, Carroll’s student-run podcast, began in 2020 when three students wanted to share stories about the people who make Montana special.
Today, it’s produced through a hands-on podcasting course taught by Dr. Alan Hansen and supported by Carroll’s Communication Center. Students learn every step of creating a professional podcast from concept development and recording to editing and publishing.
This semester, students in Dr. Annette Ryerson’s Entrepreneurship class have joined forces with Big Sky, Small World to highlight local entrepreneurs with Carroll connections. Episodes feature Assistant Football Coach Denis Brunk of Blue Wave Water, alum Jordan Jernigan from Montana Commercial Credit, adjunct professor Garrett Thompson ’09 of Floating Leaf Studios, alum and Anthrozoology instructor Madie Brustkern from Bark 4 Joy, and Strength & Conditioning Coach Brian Heuiser ’95 of Heuiser Physical Therapy, among others.
New interviews are released weekly on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
