Department Chair of Business
Dr. Belle Marie is a professor of accounting in the Business Department. She earned a Doctor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in marketing from George Fox University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Montana, and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting and a minor in French from the University of Montana, and studied abroad in Beaune, France. Her professional certifications include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). She holds memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Management Accountants, Institute of Internal Auditors, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and Montana Society of CPAs.
Belle has taught a variety of accounting, finance, and business courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in Montana, Alaska, and Idaho for over twenty years. Her research includes financial literacy, corporate social responsibility, microfinance, integrated reporting, and fraud, ethics, and internal controls. Belle has published scholarly articles, presented numerous professional seminars, and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to India where she studied socioeconomic issues of gender. She holds the Mandeville Endowed Professorship in Accounting and was the 2006 recipient of the Carroll College Distinguished Scholar Award. Her professional experience includes accounting as a sole practitioner and leadership roles in the credit union industry.
In Belle’s free time, she enjoys her family, travel, cultural events, and outdoor activities.
