Nursing (BSN)

Details

It takes a special kind of individual to dedicate their life to healing and bringing comfort to others. Nurses truly are on the front line of health care. They bring a well-rounded skillset and knowledge base that enables them to respond to a wide range of problems while at the same time understanding that every patient is unique.

About the Program

The Carroll College Nursing BSN degree is unique. You will not only gain the clinical skills and knowledge necessary to excel as a nurse and pass the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX), but you will also receive health care training enhanced by the liberal arts. When Carroll nurses complement their health care training with the depth of a liberal arts education, they bring an added perspective of the human condition that enhances the care they ultimately deliver.

The Carroll Nursing curriculum is designed to meet Montana licensure requirements. State nursing regulatory boards outline standards for safe nursing care and issue licenses to practice nursing, which may vary by state. If you intend to leave Montana before taking the NCLEX, review the unique requirements for that state to ensure you are meeting licensure requirements.

Before enrolling at Carroll, review our Professional Licensure (NC-SARA) to determine whether our nursing program meets the license-by-examination requirements in the state where you intend to practice. Please see the professional licensure directory for nursing to find specific state agencies.

I appreciated the education, opportunities, and experiences [of Carroll's nursing program]. I always felt supported and felt I was receiving the best education I could. With such knowledge and caring professors, I was able to help grow into the individual I am today.

Nursing Careers

Demand continues to grow across Montana and the United States for educated and highly skilled nursing professionals. Carroll’s nursing program educates, trains, and prepares you to take and pass the national licensure exam (NCLEX) and begin your nursing career path ready to work and make a difference.

Montana is one of 42 states that belong to the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). The NCSBN states, "The NLC increases access to care while maintaining public protection at the state level. Under the NLC, nurses can practice in other NLC states without having to obtain additional licenses."

When you earn your BSN degree from Carroll’s nursing program and pass the NCLEX, you can legally work in Montana as a Registered Nurse (RN) and in 42 other states if you submit a multi-state license application.

State nursing regulatory boards outline standards for safe nursing care and issue licenses to practice nursing, which may vary by state. Students with the intent of returning or moving to any state other than Montana prior to taking their NCLEX should be aware of the unique requirements for that state.
