Full-time tuition is based on a 12-19 credit-hour schedule.
As a first-year student, transitioning to college, we advise taking 12-15 credits if possible.
Some majors require 17 credit hours the first semester.
To graduate from Carroll College in four years you need to average 15.25 credits per semester.
Register for ENWR 101 in the Fall of your first year, and also
Register for an FYC section of a course that fulfills a core requirement.
This will set you up for better success when you take your CORE 110 in the Spring of your first year.
All first-year students take CORE 110 in their first year, but half will take it in the Fall and half will take it in the Spring.
Yes.
If you are an Honors Scholar you will take HNR 150 in place of CORE 110.
FYC stands for First-Year Cohort.
Every first year students takes ONE FYC section in their first semester.
Your First-Year cohort class is comprised only of other students in their first semester at college who are at a similar stage in their Carroll adventure.
Your FYC professor is your academic advisor for your first semester.
You cannot take more than ONE FYC section because we need every first-year-student to have an academic advisor!

The introductory biology lectures are independent courses, and one is NOT prerequisite to the others.
You will take all three eventually, in any order that works for you (and your major or pre-professional pathway).
You will also want to take a biology lab. You can take BI 131 or BI 132 in any order, and along with any lecture.

We offer precalculus each Spring, so it is likely you will take MA 112 in the spring of your first year.
We can work directly with math faculty members to make sure you are placed in the appropriate level of math.
Carroll College students can declare "Undecided" as their major for three semesters before formally choosing a major area of study.
For their first semester, UNDC students with STEM interest should register for CORE 110, CO-101 (or a foreign language), TH101, a Philosophical Reasoning course, plus either a math or science course at their placement level.
For their first semester, UNDC students with non-STEM interest should register for CORE 110, CO-101 (or a foreign language), TH 101, a Philosophical Reasoning course, plus a social science or history course to fulfill core distribution requirements in those areas.
If TH 101 or Philosophical Reasoning courses are full by the time you register, you can add other core requirements -- we'll help!
If you submitted your OFFICIAL college transcripts from previous institutions, to Carroll College, at least five business days in advance of your Schedule Planning & Registration session, your transfer equivalencies will be completed.
Check the "Timeline" view in Student Planning to see your transferred courses in the semester during which you earned them.
Check the "My Progress" view in Student Planning to see what degree requirements you have fulfilled by earning these transfer credits.
Throughout the summer you will be able to schedule advising appointments during which you will work with an advisor to make changes to your schedule.
Both in-person/on-campus AND virtual/Zoom appointments are available, for your convenience.
We love meeting with students and helping them -- we're here to help.
