The Carroll Difference
Carroll's Psychology Department is known for its collaborative and engaging approach to education. Students learn via a rich diversity of experiences - from collaborative classroom activities to brain dissections, foreign study excursions, community service, and wilderness excursions. Here, students don't simply learn about what it means to be human: they experience it directly.
The Psychology Department is deeply engaged in experiential learning. Students regularly participate in collaborative group activities, outdoor workshops, clinical case examples, brain imaging studies, research, and real-world evaluations of treatment interventions. We recognize that many students learn best via hands-on experience, and work hard to teach in a manner that is as interesting as it is valuable.

Graduates of our program consistently earn acceptance into respected graduate programs like Pacific University, the University of Montana, and the University of Oregon, and identify their time at Carroll as integral to both their graduate school and professional successes. "A student at Carroll should choose to study psychology because it is applicable to everything we do. In every profession, people work with people and I think that a layer of understanding and empathy comes from learning about how people think. Even just a psych minor can be so beneficial to any major."
