THF Scholarships are one-year awards of $1,000, which may be applied to educational expenses at any accredited institution in the United States. Educational expenses include tuition and fees, room and board expenses at school or at home, books and supplies and incidental expenses.

HUMANE STUDIES FELLOWSHIPS
The Institute for Humane Studies found at http://www.theihs.orgawards Humane Studies Fellowships of up to $12,000 to support the work of outstanding graduate and undergraduate and students who are interested in or whose work explores the principles of a free society. Last year IHS awarded 120 scholarships totaling $450,000 to students pursuing degrees in the U.S. and abroad. International and domestic students who will be enrolled full-time for the 2006-2007 academic year are eligible to apply.

NEWHOUSE SCHOOL NEWSPAPER FELLOWSHIP AND APPRENTICESHIP FOR MINORITIES: SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY
The Newhouse Graduate Nuwspaper Fellowship and Apprenticeship for Minorities is a highly competitive 30-month program that provides two generous awards each year to minority students who have majored in subjects other than journalism as undergraduates. It is supported by the Newhouse Foundation. The winners study newspaper journalism on the master's level at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Northern Illinois University's Department of Teaching and Learning in DeKalb, IL. There are three programs at Northern Illinois University to train students to work with children and/or adults with visual disabilities. Student support is available on a competitive basis. Rehabilitation Teaching: Counsel and teach the skills of independent living to adults who have visual disabilities. Orientation & Mobility: Teach the skills of independent travel, sensory development, concept development, and techniques of non-visual travel including use of the long cane. Visual Disabilities Program: Teach students with visual disabilities in any type of educational setting as a certified special educator. This program includes an emphasis on assistive technology to meet the needs for training in this area for students who are blind or have visual disabilities. LATINO AND NATIVE AMERICAN LIBRARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
The University of Arizona School of Information Resources and Library Science (SIRLS) is pleased to announce it is now recruiting students for Knowledge River--a Master's Degree program leading to an exciting career as an information professional, focusing on the information and library needs and perspectives of Hispanics and Native Americans. Students accepted into Knowledge River will receive full tuition and a generous graduate assistantship or stipend for one academic year, in addition to other special program features. A Bachelor's degree in any field is acceptable. .
