I hope everyone is handling the time change better than I did. The coincidence that Spring Break ended just after the time change is almost comical. I'm beginning to wonder if other schools are more sane by having Spring Break this week as opposed to last week. Then again, we get an Easter Break, so I suppose it all evens out somewhere.
The break was not as much of a break for me as I would have liked. Due to some lack of foresight on my part, I ended up working enough to make it basically a 3-day weekend. That said, I made as much of it as I could.
One of the big events was my family's annual sausage party. We pool together all our venison from hunting and make various sausages and salamis. New this year was bratwurst. I'm blessed or cursed in knowing what the real stuff tastes like, so I wasn't blown away with our efforts. that said, properly dressed (sauerkraut and stone ground mustard) they were mighty tasty. I haven't had a chance to sample the rest (yet), but rumors are that this was a good year. I'm just glad there was plenty to go around...500 pounds is what we made. I don't know how many individual families that is split between, but its around 10. Lots of food and lies being passed around (decendents of fishermen, all of us. One side of the family is even named Fischer, although, I don't know if that name has anything to do with fishing.)
The last remaining bits of break, I got to spend with my direct family and a little with some friends. While I didn't go to some exotic locale, I did take a culinary travel around the world one evening. I got to have some great wine from Chile and Australia, as well as had a variety of European cheeses. Not nearly as good as travelling, but it beats being stuck at home eating Ramen Noodles. The world tour will have to wait 'till next year.
Take Care,
Jim
