The new expanded Carroll wireless network "HaloNet" is currently being installed. Access will be provided around campus in most, if not every building.
Where is access to the new HaloNet wireless network available today?
Also, some outdoor areas are covered from indoor access points, for example, outside of Borromeo you can get a pretty good signal and surf the web from the lawn. More buildings and areas will be added in the coming days and weeks. Check back here for details.
1) A Windows XP or Mac OS X based computer that has wireless capability and is WPA compatible.
2) A valid Carroll network account.
You do not need to come to CCIT to get setup. Try it yourself using the instructions below, it's easy! If you still have trouble after trying to do the setup, contact an RTA and they'll help you out.
First:
Make sure your wireless laptop can do WPA encryption (most will do WEP encryption, but we're using WPA - it's much better and will help keep your wireless connection private). If your wireless laptop can not do WPA, then check for updated drivers and software from the laptop manufacturer, or if you have a separate wireless card, check with that manufacturer - most will offer updates that will add WPA funcationality to your system.
Next:
Download the setup instructions and configure your laptop.
