The National Football Foundation plans to name 16 finalists for its 2009 scholar-athlete award on Thursday.
Cody Lamb of Carroll College and Brandon Fisher of the University of Montana are among the semifinalists.
The semifinalists are nominated by their schools, must be in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2, and be a significant contributor to their team while demonstrating strong leadership and citizenship.
The 16 finalists will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship and will be in the running for the William V. Campbell Trophy, formerly known as the Draddy Trophy. The winner, who will be announced on Dec. 8, will have his scholarship increased to $25,000.
