The Carroll College volleyball team is no longer looking down on the rest of the Frontier Conference.

The No. 19 Saints slipped a little on Saturday, giving up their conference lead with a 21-25, 18-25, 25-12, 25-19, 17-15 loss to Rocky Mountain College in Billings.

"It's two good teams really going to battle," said Saints head coach Moe Boyle. "We came out at home and they came out on top at their place tonight."

Carroll (20-7, 6-2 conference) drops to a half game behind Lewis-Clark State (14-6, 7-2) in the Frontier standings. The Saints are now tied with the University of Great Falls for second.

Carroll couldn't hold onto a two game lead as Rocky's Sara Brunner and Jillian Stanek both finished with 13 kills. Ashley Welborn and Jessica Overstreet added 10 apiece.

Sammy Priddy picked up a double-double for the Saints, getting 12 kills and 18 digs in the win. Kayla Hughes added 11 kills.

"I think our offense is lacking a little bit tonight in what we need to do," Boyle said. "We weren't able to put it away when we needed it the most.

"We went to war in some of these rallies and got timid hitting the ball."

Their defense, meanwhile, picked up 16 blocks with Christina Smetana picking up 10 total, four in the fourth game.

Carroll heads to Montana Tech on Thursday and the University of Montana Western the next day.

"Working on our mental game is something we're going to have to learn from this," Boyle said.
